Lisa Mengotto is a venture fellow at an emerging fund focused on AI and data infrastructure. She brings a technical background in science and engineering, with early career experience spanning research, development, and the communication of emerging technologies.
Lisa attended Stevens Institute of Technology, where she conducted research and taught in academic labs across science and engineering disciplines, while also holding several leadership roles including Editor-in-Chief of the campus newspaper.
She began her professional career at a medtech AI startup at a time when AI adoption was still nascent, leading marketing during the company’s pre-Series A phase. Working directly with the founder and CEO, Lisa took significant ownership of narrative strategy, content development, and early go-to-market experimentation.
She then returned to graduate school with a focus on analytical instrumentation and in-situ quantum chemistry methods. Following graduation, Lisa worked in a highly client-facing role in the field as a technical consultant and subject-matter expert, supporting advanced scientific hardware and software deployments in laboratories across the U.S.
Lisa later moved into science-driven media at a boutique marketing agency, managing editorial operations for a leading life sciences publication and serving as a project manager for integrated digital campaigns across the agency.
Lisa became deeply embedded in the New York City startup ecosystem—hosting founder events, publishing founder stories, and advising aspiring and early-stage founders on clarity, storytelling, and execution—before joining an emerging fund as a venture fellow.
Lisa brings broad technical fluency and maintains close engagement with advances in semiconductors, compute architectures, and emerging computing paradigms. She is particularly drawn to deep-tech companies grounded in first-principles thinking, long time horizons, and sustained technical rigor.
